What Every 2020 Senior Needs To Know

College Mapping - 2020 Senior Grads
Good luck with your final weeks of school.  We know that the virus has disrupted your plans for Proms/Senior Ball, a graduation ceremony, and the party celebrations with your family and friends. Congratulations on working hard, earning your high school diploma, and continuing to work through the current virus challenge.

  1. Students taking AP exams: the scores will be released this summer. They usually release around July 8.  Once scores have been released, you can order an AP score report to be sent to your college.  They will review your scores and determine what credit will be awarded.  https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/sending-scores/online
  2. Order two copies of your final transcript.  Let your counseling office know the college to send the final transcript. The second copy should be sent to your home and kept sealed.  This backup copy will help in case your college does not receive the transcript sent directly by your counseling office.
  3. Remember to thank your counselor and teachers for help in writing recommendations during the application season.
  4. Keep up with all college communications.  Colleges are planning for fall courses, both online and on campus.  It is still too soon to confirm the delivery plan for Fall 2020.
  5. Many students are considering attending a local Community College with the unknown plans of colleges going online for the fall.  If you are considering this path, the student should be registering for the Community College now and getting ready to register for fall classes.
  • If you have accepted with your 4-year University, you can request a deferment.  They may or may not accept a deferment.
  • Once you take classes at the Community College after graduation, you are moved to a transfer student (no longer a freshman applicant).
  • Scholarships awarded to incoming freshmen are usually better than what is offered to a transfer student.
