About Joan Thomas & College Mapping

​Meet Joan Thomas

Joan Thomas has been working with high school students for over twenty years. She founded College Mapping in 2008. She also spent six years teaching Business and Marketing to juniors & seniors at Amador Valley High School, and managed the world-class DECA Program, An Association of Marketing Students. Joan had the largest and most successful program in the Bay Area, her students were international winners and received college scholarship grants.
She was awarded “Teacher of Excellence” by parents, her students and the Administration of Amador Valley High School 2008. Prior to teaching, Joan was with Hewlett-Packard for 17 years specializing in career development and the college development program for HP Consulting. Her career spans Product Marketing, Consulting, to Sales and Recruiting. Joan spent 2 years as a Technology Recruiter and Career Coach. She has an MBA in Marketing, a BS in Business Administration /Computer Science, a Teaching Credential and a College Admissions & Career Planning Certificate.
